Sander Blommaert
Instructor, Barreworks WorkOut & Ballet WorkOut
Sander Blommaert joins us as a recently ‘retired’ First Artist of The Royal Ballet. He trained at The Royal Ballet School of Antwerp and then The Royal Ballet Upper School in Covent Garden. He graduated into the Royal Ballet Company in 2010 and was promoted to First Artist in 2015.
Sander’s performances have included Romeo and Juliet, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and roles in The Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Sylvia, The Rite of Spring, The Firebird and The Nutcracker.
Sander also performed in Hot House, part of One Big Stage with Gareth Malone and was part of a team from The Royal Ballet involved with an episode of ITV’s ‘What Would Be Your Miracle’, helping a young girl who suffers from cerebral palsy achieve her dream of dancing.
Sander has also trained in the Barreworks Instructor Training Programme and his knowledge of ballet, alongside his fun, upbeat and hard-working character are all evident in his barre teaching style. Prepare to work hard, and to learn from the very best!
Sander lives locally with his dogs, Coco & Belle and his fiancé Phillip. When he's not at Barreworks, you'll find him watching former colleagues at the Royal Ballet, or training and devising choreography for World champion figure skaters (including his twin brother) in Germany.
