What is a barre workout?
Barreworks WorkOut class
Using the ballet barre as a basis for a complete body workout, the exercises involve dynamic and static movements, isometric holds, core strengthening and luxurious orthopaedic stretching. A fun, fast-paced and deceptively challenging work-out improves cardiovascular stamina and tones and sculpts each muscle group. All the exercises are performed to music.
Barreworks RunOut class
With strong bio-mechanics, good alignment and long, lean muscle tone, you can run effortlessly, without injury and enjoy every minute. Running is the perfect compliment to the Barreworks Methodology, so it made sense for us to develop a bespoke technique-based running class applying the principles of a Barreworks workout to help you discover the 'skill' of running. Whatever your level or injury history - and no matter how much you think you hate running, we promise you can learn to love it. We take you from a warm up at the barre to the park or along the river in Richmond and then back to the Studio to stretch and cool down. Classes are held on Mondays at 9.30am and 6.30pm and Thursday 9.30am and 7pm.
Our Thursday 7pm class starts and finishes at Wholefoods Market in Richmond. This class is completely FREE and you will get a complimetary juice or smoothie to refuel afterwards! Booking essential!
Barreworks Ballet WorkOut class
Formerly named the New York City Ballet Workout before its discontinuation in 2011, this unique class combines elements of ballet training and athletic conditioning. You’ll discover a workout devised to incorporate every aspect of a dancer’s approach to training, from basic barre work to strength training and physiotherapy. The music, exercises and movements enhance grace and posture, promote exceptional muscle conditioning and definition, flexibility and balance. The class is held to a soothing soundtrack of some of the most loved ballet scores in the world.
Barreworks StretchOut class
The perfect fusion of barre work and deep stretching. A totally unique class, set to music, incoporating aspects of yoga movement, seamlessly combined with challenging barre exercises. Designed to help you improve muscle tone and develop flexibility to create the optimal balance between muscle strength and length. A full 60 minute, complete body workout that includes a 5 minute nurturing relaxation. The ideal antidote to a stressful day...
Are these classes for me?
They are for anyone who wants the body of a dancer. You do not need any previous dance or general exercise experience and all classes are entirely suitable for beginners. Classes are suitable for anyone over the age of 16. Fitness and shape are not important.
With regular attendance, you will build long, lean muscle and achieve the perfect posture of a dancer’s body. Your bottom will lift, your thighs will get trimmer and your arms will become defined.
With no jumping around and no wildly beating heart - and no need to shower after the class - this is highly efficient exercise that can be done anywhere, anytime.
